Supporting renewable energy through the installation of a new biomass cogeneration power plant in the Viñales sawmill site. The new cogeneration plant is equipped with a new 210 ton/hr fluidized bed biomass power boiler and a 41 MW condensing/extracting turbo generator unit.
Through renewable biomass power generation, the project activity contributes to Chile's long-term growth by delivering electricity to the Viales sawmill and the local grid.
The project is reducing an estimated 258,000tCO2e and has been validated by DNV (The Norske Veritas Climate Change Services AS)
Furthermore, by transforming a waste product into a means of co-generating renewable heat and power, the biomass facility is reducing waste and benefiting the entire community.
